Description

Tempest Classic Waterproof and Windproof Shell Jacket Waterproof & Windproof Viking uses the most globally recognized Hydrostatic Water Pressure testing method – AATCC 127 to qualify our fabrics as being waterproof. The test material is subjected to steadily increasing water pressure on one face until water penetration occurs on the opposite face in three separate locations. The minimum standard for Viking is 11.2 psi (pounds per square inch) or 784 mbar. This may generically be called 8,000 waterproof. Polyester/PVC Shell Fabric PVC rainwear offers the highest level of waterproof, windproof, and splash protection, and is easy to clean. Stormblaster Hood The Stormblaster hood system reduces wind and rain exposure up the back of the jacket, while orienting the front close to the chin and cheek area. It has a safety “Tear Away” design, making it easy to remove and attach. Standard hoods are traditionally attached with hook-and-loop fasteners or buttons, leaving gaps that could allow water to travel up and around the neck area. I must still say there is a bunch to like about this unit. As you can see I have had mine a while. With in the frist year the zipper started being a pain. A few days ago the zipper fell a part. This is such a real downer cause the rest of the coat is really nice. Man folks used to comment on the coat, that blue is really sharp.Though this is my first day with this this jacket. I am very impressed with the build quality. The reviews on this shell did not let me down. There are so many things that are very well thought out on this unit. The hood is really well thought out. It snaps and Velcro's on. Or you can roll it up into the collar. There are pockets for everything. Even a place for your headphones to run a wire. The main zipper is covered by two flaps that velcro into place. No cold air coming in there. The zippers seem very heavy duty to me. There are even really nice pit zips. I am thinking this thing over my fleece will be great for very cold and windy days. (Never rains here) Also this is also not very light weight for a shell. But that is ok with me. It seems it is made to be worked in. From what I see so far I think this looks to be a great value. Today was in the 50s with no wind or rain. So no way for me to do any sort of real test. I will add an update when I get the chance to get some bad weather. I think for the money it is looking to be a good value and I would not wait for pricing to go back up to get one. I might even buy a 2nd.I was pleased with teh quality of this jacket out of the package. It is a well made jacket. It also has a small zipper on the inside so you can get it embroidered with a custom logo, which is a great feature to have. the only issue I had, and triggered a return is it fit like a sausage casing. I am a true 3xlt in jackets and coats. this was so small it missed meeting by inches. Fortunately it was Prime & free returns. I will try again in next size up. Tips to people considering this jacket: order up in size.It is a solid jacket, good for someone who needs to stay dry and doesn't care about stuffing it into a real small space.Does great, but the zipper up front is funky... Takes a few tries to get it set before it will zip up. Otherwise, it's a great jacket. IT DOES repel water. It is wind proof.Would be 5 star, except for the zipper.Great quality except that the zipper does not remain zipped at the bottom when the jacket is being worn while sitting e.g. in the car. The zipper unzips from the second zipper and rides up. I am 5' 11'; 180 pounds; I originally purchased a medium jacket because these jackets usually fit a bit on the large size. However I immediately noticed the zipper issue so I exchanged it for a large thinking that maybe the jacket was a bit too close fitting, however the large jacket is loose everywhere but the zipper still has the same issue. I own an older version of this same jacket in a medium size, it has a different metal zipper not this plastic coated version and it is a much better quality and does not unzip independently like this one does.Overall I think this is a good jacket that protects you from the elements well but the zipper is a nuisance and not as great quality as the older versions.(I live in the rainy and often cold pacific northwest and have used the older version of this jacket for salmon fishing in often challenging weather on the Columbia river.)Excellent jacket - well sewn and very robust but a little heavy. Zippers are a bit cheap & disappointing but overall a great product for the price. I would buy another one without hesitation. This jacket and a fleece would be enough for very cool conditions but I think it would be a bit hot in warm conditions worn alone. I'm 6' tall and weigh 235 lbs. and the XL fits great if even a little big. I'm very happy with the purchase.I bought this for my 23-year old son, after we reviewed it together online. It arrived on time and he is satisfied with it (he hasn't had it long enough to give it a more thorough evaluation). It's certainly an excellent value for the price. What I really appreciate is the reflective striping since he is often out late on foot around the streets of his college town. The only negative is that folding the hood into the collar, while possible, isn't really comfortable, so he decided he can either remove it, or just let the hood hang.really excellent jacket. well made, great for wet weather. could easily be worn for casual or professional activity.. since the listing lacks pictures (at least i think upon recieving the jacket it did) i will say the jacket is sturdy, strong, well made, and surprisingly light. the inside is the same material as the outside, only the collar has cotton or whatever the "fuzzy" material is. the materials feel solid in terms of how long the jacket will last. If wearing in below freezing weather i would recommend it as a layer, not your sole coat. Its a great med weight rain coat or would work very well as an outer layer thats reliably waterproof. Finally we get rain and my chance to use my new jacket. It's too heavy! I new when it arrived it felt heavy but, after wearing it a while, it feels like I've carrying someone on my back. This is a problem for he because I need it when I'm working. Reaching, bending and just being physical with this outerwear on, just wore me out. Also, I don't really care for zippers which close by zipping down vs up. And, the extra material inside the pouches snag the zipper, which is a huge pain when you're rushing to get something in or out while in the rain. If your just sitting down in the rain, this jacket is the one. But, if your blue collar and want waterproof, look for a fishing jacket and check how much it weighs. This is my second Viking jacket, the first one lasted many years. The jacket is heavy and well made, but the zipper is very light duty and is fraying at the bottom. It's 3 months old, I didn't wear it right away but return date has passed. This is the fifth Viking jacket I have had over about 12 years, they are warm, practical with hood in collar, and lots of pockets, wash to clean, etcDespite previously reporting description to Amazon and also returning the wrong size, the description is often wrong on Amazon, eg Runbell and sizes. This last jacket has the zipper pull on the right (conventional female) side not left (male )side, so a little awkward.de muy buena calidad y ajusteThis was a duplicate order and really like the jacket.Great rain jacket. As descibed.
